The never to be forgotten story of why I started Relevant Air.

Friday afternoon, middle of summer, I’ve completed a massive week at work. It’s time for a beer and a dive in the pool!

Drove into my driveway and my neighbour followed me down. He looked distressed. He asked if I can get the air conditioning unit temporarily working. His wife has a medical condition and the heat impacts on her wellbeing.

I didn’t hesitate. If it was impacting on her wellbeing, I knew it was important.

His wife arranged for a local air conditioning company to visit site. They advised the air conditioning unit needs to be replaced. This is because there’s no refrigerant in the unit. To add refrigerant and identify the leak, it outweighs the cost of replacing the unit. She accepted the quote for the install immediately and paid the 10% deposit. They booked her in two weeks despite her medical condition and her need to stay cool.

Shouldn’t she have been a priority customer?

I checked the refrigerant levels and found that the unit has refrigerant. I looked at the remote controller and realised the unit is set to fan only mode, I changed the remote controller mode setting to cooling and the unit started blowing out cold air. Carried out a maintenance on the unit and everything was working fine.

The unit didn’t need to be replaced. It was the mode setting that needed to be changed for the unit to operate in cooling mode.
